Who we are, what we do & whom we seek to help

Enable Ability is established as an independent charity for the care, welfare and advancement of disabled people living in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.  We work in partnership with disabled children and adults, their families and carers, to provide a range of high quality, professional and confidential services.

We have a really good Cosham Support Centre clients are welcomed by our volunteer befrienders who are equipped to provide information, support and a listening ear. Our team of specialist counsellors are there to help deal with the emotional impact of cancer and our complementary therapists aim to improve well-being, help with pain management and increase self-confidence.

We have committed ourselves to helping to promote Social Enterprises and helping to build a market place, we are pleased to be working in partnership with Action Hampshire. They have been supporting not-for-profit organisations to deliver great services to local people and communities; speak up for the changes they would like to see; and shape the future of where they live and work.

If you have been diagnosed with dementia, and live in the PO1 to PO6 area or have a GP within PO1 to PO6, we can support you and the people who help care for you. We will tailor our help to suit your needs and we will make sure you have all the support and information you need. Working with Remind on helping to build a Dementia Friendly City.

We believe Good Hearing is important for all and we are working with Hearing Dogs/Hearing Link within a partnership to create Let’s Hear in Portsmouth.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust Is working towards reducing the risk of violence and aggression through campaigning, education and support. They hope yo help build a society in which people are safer and feel safe – from violence and aggression; they want people to be able to live life to the full.

Portsmouth Disability Forum aim is to promote the care, welfare, interest, education and advancement of disabled people their families and personal assistants and their independence and inclusion within the community of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. We work with service providers and other disability organisations to ensure that disabled people get the same rights and facilities as everyone else.
